The AAAS Board of Directors instituted a program in 1982 by which two (2) persons from all 6 regions can be honoured each year with Honorary Life Membership in the Association.
Honorary Life Membership
A person who is a member of an agricultural society and who has made valuable and noteworthy contributions to the development and advancement of agricultural societies in Alberta will be eligible to be awarded one of two Honorary Life Memberships in the Alberta Association of Agricultural Societies. This will be an outstanding volunteer recognized for their dedication to local, regional and provincial levels of agriculture.
The chosen recipients will be honoured at the Saturday night awards banquet during the annual convention. The nominating Agricultural Society will be notified if their nominee is chosen and IT IS THE NOMINATING SOCIETY’S RESPONSIBILITY TO ENSURE THE RECIPIENT IS IN ATTENDANCE TO ACCEPT THE AWARD. AAAS will provide complimentary dinner tickets to the awards banquet for the recipient and one guest. All other ticket requirements must be purchased in advance.
Attached is a nomination form consisting of three sections. Each section deals with the candidate’s contribution to their local agricultural society, the regional scene, and the community. The person(s) with the highest points will receive the award.
The nomination needs to have the signatures of both the Ag Society President and Ag Society Secretary. If you are unable to get the signature of both individuals, you may also upload a scanned copy of the signatures. You may use this template for signatures.
