Berry Creek Agricultural Society

The BCAS is a central hub for a very involved community. The hall sits in a town with only a few residents, but it provides a strong base for a large surrounding area.
The hall is the home to community events such as the Bean and Bingo suppers to celebrate harvest and weanings, Christmas suppers with Santa, NYE dances, local events from the Berry Creek Community School, and the Dusty Plains 4H Club. New events to the hall and the grounds are the Summer Kids Rodeo Series held 4 times during the summer months, and Team Roping events. From weddings, funerals, family reunions, church services, and office meetings held by local companies. There are probably more that we have forgotten but important none the less. The most important event is by far the annual Hardgrass Bronc Match. From day one it has been a professional outstanding event created by community members, built by community members and grown by community members. For the last weekend in July Pollockville turns into a hub of a couple of thousand campers, spectators and dummy roping contestants. The weekend includes a Friday night performance of Ranch Rodeo Bronc events. Saturday boasts a trade show held in the Curling Club Arena steps away. There is also a kids dummy roping contest which always brings in a crowd. Before the big event happens there is a Prairie Oyster Nut Fry Competition. For those that are local, this cookoff (known as the Testy Festy) was traditionally a celebration of another Branding season completed. For many years it was a dance and cookoff for a community that loves to get together and celebrate the reason we love where we live, and love what we do. The success of the Bronc Match has meant that the Ag Society can give much more back to the community and it has done so with great pride. The Ag Society knows that it would not be where it is today if not for the strong community support it wields.
