Verdant Valley Agricultural Society

We are a small but active agricultural society. We pride ourselves in helping to keep our community vibrant and functioning. We are 15 km from Drumheller and have have a nicely renovated community center (a former rural school building) and a Quonset style building which is used in the summer months. We rent out our facility for weddings, family reunions, boys and girl scouts, and other events and offer camping along with the use of our facilities. Our facilities are booked every weekend in July and August as well as many other days throughout the year. We promote education about agriculture including our “Ask a Farmer” event where we visit the local Drumheller schools, visiting all the elementary classes and allowing students to ask questions about farming and ranching. Other educational activities include agricultural tours, bringing in speakers, and attending agricultural forums. We foster the building of community and relationships through events such as potluck suppers, annual Christmas dinner, dessert evenings, ball games, and craft events. We have hosted chore horse competitions and offer the Drumheller and area community free sleigh rides on Family Day weekend. We have good participation in
