AAAS Convention 2020

Each year the Alberta Association of Agricultural Societies hosts it’s Convention, Trade Show and AGM. It is a great opportunity to network with other Ag Societies and learn from each other, while also taking in the great sessions and speakers.

This year we will be doing things a little differently. The Trade Show will start on the Thursday evening and run till Friday Afternoon. This will give you plenty of time to chat with a variety of vendors.

If you are looking for entertainment for an upcoming event, our showcasing is a great chance to see an array of entertainment options in a short time frame.

AAAS Convention 2020 - BYLAW REVIEW WORKSHOP

Bylaw Review Workshop : TWO SESSIONS AVAILABLE 

January 30, 2020 from 6:30pm to 9:30pm   OR January 310, 9:00am - 12:00pm: 

Speaker: Tim Carson, Alberta Association of Agricultural Societies

This is a free workshop however pre-registration is required.

You can register by emailing info@albertaagsocieties.ca or by calling 780-427-2174

If your organization has not reviewed or updated your bylaws recently this workshop will assist you with both the review and updating. During the workshop participants will be using their existing bylaws as a discussion document and comparing it to best practice bylaws (that have been developed by AAAS in conjunction with the Department of Agriculture and Forestry). We will also give an overview of the differences between bylaws and policies, and review what the Agricultural Societies Act mandates for Ag Societies. A template will be provided to participants and by the end of the day participants should leave with an understanding and templates that will assist you and save you time when revising your own organizations bylaws.

Cutter Rally for Cancer

The Lloydminster Agricultural Exhibition Association, in partnership with the East West Chapter of the Alberta Carriage Driving Association, the Lloydminster Draft Horse Association and the Lloydminster Miniature Horse & Pony Club, is proud to host the 16th Annual Poker Cutter Rally for Cancer on Saturday, February 23, 2019. Proceeds from the event will be donated, with funds going to the Lloydminster Region Health Foundation for the Cancer Ward, as well as a donation to the Haying in the 30’s Cancer Support Society.

To date, over the 14 years we have hosted the Cutter Rally for Cancer our donations have totaled over $110,000. In addition, we donated $2,000.00 to the Haying in the 30’s group. This year, we have three categories in which to take part in – teamsters/horseback riders, trail participants and ghost hands.

The Priddis & Millarville Fair is one of southern Alberta’s oldest and largest country fairs. The Fair is the place to learn about agricultural history and the animals that live around us, participate as an exhibitor or just view the creations of local artisans, gardeners, fibre artists, photographers and wood workers. Compete in horse riding events or sit back and enjoy a variety of stage entertainment. We have antique tractors, cars, and trucks and contests such as pie eating, rooster crowing, watermelon eating and youth talent. From field crops to honey bees, whether it is observing how livestock is graded or taking time to marvel at the great display of judged entries, there is no shortage of things to do at the Fair.
Admission is $5 per person per day, children 8 years and younger are free
