Honour Roll – ONLINE Nomination Form – 2023

 

Do you know of someone who has made a valuable and noteworthy contribution to the development and advancement of agricultural societies in Alberta?

The Alberta Association of Agricultural Societies invites agricultural societies to nominate a member of their association for their outstanding contribution to the development and advancement of agricultural societies in Alberta. Two members will be awarded the Honorary Life Memberships.

This prestigious award recognizes outstanding volunteers for their dedication to local, regional and provincial levels of agriculture.

The nominating agricultural society will be notified if their nominee is chosen and it is the nominating society’s responsibility to ensure the recipient is in attendance to accept the award. AAAS will provide two complimentary dinner tickets for the recipient and one guest. All other ticket requirements must be purchased in advance.

 

 

2022 Honor Roll Award Recipients

 

BRENDA MOON – Airdrie Agricultural Society

 

  • Member of Airdrie & District Agricultural Society (ADAS) since 2004 and is a lifetime member
    – President of ADAS from 2009 to 2012;
    – Past Chair of the Communications committee;
    – Founder & Chair of the Farm Safety Program from 2017 to 2021
  • Brenda was a founding member of the ART of the Harvest committee and created a connection with local ARTember events taking place in Airdrie.
  • Coordinated ADAS events to support Open Farm Days
  • Worked with and coordinated Rocky View County, the City of Airdrie and the Province to get the re-zoning on the ADAS parcel of land in 2010
  • Instrumental part of the Land Use committee tasked with reviewing the existing ADAS plan and to explore the possibility of erecting a community use building on the land
  • Brenda joined the Airdrie Pro Rodeo committee in 1997 and served as President from 2001 to 2004. She also established the Airdrie Pro Rodeo as the first “Tough Enough to Wear Pink” rodeo in Canada
  • Brenda acted as a survivor spokesperson for the Airdrie Relay for Life and CIBC Run for the Cure in 2007 and 2008
  • Volunteer with the Airdrie Food Bank since 2015
  • Judge for 4-H and Miss Rodeo Airdrie events

 

 

 

ELLEN BONDE – Rocky Mountain House Agricultural Society

  • Member of The Rocky Mountain House Agricultural Society since 1977
    – Life Membership awarded in 1998
    – Served in all the Executive Positions on the board
    – Served as Bursary Chair for over 15 years
  • Started Chinnook 4-H Riders Light horse Club in 1977
  • Served as Rocky Mountain House 4-H District Council
  • Was inducted to the Alberta Agriculture 4H Hall of Fame in 2009
  • Co-ordinated the America Scandinavian Student Exchange Program from 1989-1994
  • Co-ordinated the 4H / Japanese Student Exchange Program from 1995 – 2020
  • Served as executive on Rocky Minor Hocky Association (33 years )
  • served as executive on North Central Minor Hockey Association (20+ years), West Country West Stars Junior Hockey Association (5 years), West Country Minor Hockey Association (2000 to present
  • current member of the Rocky Mountain House Pioneer Centre, Rocky Whirlaways Square Dance Club, Pioneer Centre Bridge Club;
